Best eSIM for Isle of Man (2026): Prices, Networks and Which Plan to Buy
Updated · Wayfarro team

The best eSIM for Isle of Man trips is a close call between Wayfarro and Nomad on fixed data, and Wayfarro for unlimited weeks. Wayfarro charges $5 for 1GB over 7 days, $15 for 5GB and $25 for 10GB, matching Nomad's $5, $15 and $25. Seven days of unlimited data costs $27 with Wayfarro against $27.50 at Airalo, while Airalo is cheaper at 10 and 15 days. Nomad and Airalo prices were checked in November 2026; Wayfarro's come straight from its store.
The island isn't part of the UK, and that's the whole reason this page exists: a UK plan may or may not include it, and a Europe bundle usually doesn't. Here's how the options compare.

How to read this table: Wayfarro and Nomad charge the same for 1GB, 5GB and 10GB, and Nomad is 50 cents cheaper at 3GB. Nomad sells nothing above 10GB and no unlimited plan, so 20GB, 50GB and the unlimited rows are Wayfarro against Airalo. Wayfarro is 50 cents cheaper than Airalo at 3, 5 and 7 days of unlimited; Airalo is cheaper at 10 days and 15 days, and Wayfarro is the only one with a 1-day or a 30-day unlimited plan. A dash means the provider doesn't sell that exact plan, or we couldn't confirm its US-dollar price.
Wayfarro's unlimited rows are its Unlimited Lite plans: 1GB a day at full speed, then 512 kbps until the next day. It also sells Unlimited Essential (1GB a day, then 1.25 Mbps) at $32 for 7 days and Unlimited Plus (2GB a day, then 2 Mbps) at $64.
Which is the best eSIM for Isle of Man visits by trip type?
- A long weekend in Douglas and a day on the railways: 1GB for 7 days at $5 from Wayfarro or Nomad, or 3GB at $10 if you'll be navigating the glens by phone. Nomad is a touch cheaper at 3GB.
- TT fortnight or the Manx Grand Prix: Wayfarro's 7-day unlimited at $27 for race week, or 15 days at $55 if you're there for practice week too. Airalo's 15-day plan is cheaper, so compare the two before you pay.
- A fortnight's walking holiday: 5GB at $15 covers maps, ferry checks and photos. Heavy sharers should take 10GB at $25.
- Working from the island for a month: 20GB at $43 or 50GB at $95. Nobody else in this comparison sells those sizes.
- The island as one stop on a British Isles trip: the Isle of Man isn't in Wayfarro's Europe bundle, so use Trip Builder to pair an Isle of Man plan with a UK plan, or take the Global plan.
Networks and coverage on the Isle of Man
The island has two mobile networks: Manx Telecom, the incumbent, and Sure, owned by Batelco. Manx Telecom started life as a BT subsidiary in 1987, was later owned by O2's parent and used as a test bed for new services, and is now owned by Basalt Infrastructure Partners. Sure built its own network in 2007 and runs 4G. Nomad's and Airalo's plans both use Manx Telecom; Wayfarro's plan page doesn't name its partner, so the network appears on your phone when you connect.
Manx numbers sit inside the +44 code, with 01624 landlines and 07624 mobiles, which is part of why people assume the island is just another bit of the UK for roaming. It isn't: it was never in the EU either, so EU roam-like-at-home rules don't apply here and UK plans vary. Check yours, or treat the best eSIM for Isle of Man data as a separate purchase.
Coverage is good in Douglas, Onchan, Ramsey, Peel, Castletown and Port Erin, and along the main roads between them. The island has one mountain over 600 metres, Snaefell at 620 m, and the Mountain Road across its shoulder is a well-used route with signal for most of its length. The deep glens and the cliffs at the southern tip near the Calf of Man are where you'll lose it.
Getting there and around, and what it does to your data
There are two ways in: Isle of Man Airport at Ronaldsway, in the south near Castletown with flights from the UK and Ireland, and the Sea Terminal in Douglas, where Steam Packet ferries arrive from Heysham and Liverpool. The ferry timetable thins out in winter, and sailings move with the weather, so the Steam Packet status page is one you'll refresh more than you'd expect.
Once you're there, the island's transport is half the attraction and all of it is timetable-driven:
- The Steam Railway runs from Douglas to Port Erin, the Manx Electric Railway from Douglas to Ramsey, and the Snaefell Mountain Railway climbs to the summit. Horse trams still run along Douglas promenade.
- Peel, on the west coast, is the main fishing port, with Peel Castle on St Patrick's Isle, the seat of the old Norse kingdom.
- The whole island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, awarded in 2016, and the Calf of Man off the southern tip is a seasonal bird observatory reached by boat.
- The TT has run in May and June most years since 1907. It and the Manx Grand Prix each take over the island for two weeks, hotels and campsites fill up, and mobile networks get busy around the course. Bring more data than you think you need and download the schedule each morning on Wi-Fi.
Rain is a planning factor too. Snaefell gets around 1,900 mm a year, so you'll be checking forecasts and rerouting walks on your phone.
How to set up an eSIM for the Isle of Man
- Check your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. iPhone XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and most recent Samsung Galaxy phones do.
- Install before you travel, on Wi-Fi at home. The step-by-step install guide covers iPhone and Android.
- When you land or dock, set the Isle of Man eSIM as your mobile-data line and turn on Data Roaming for it. Travel eSIMs technically roam, so data won't connect without it.
- Keep your home SIM on for calls and texts with its data roaming off, unless you've confirmed your plan includes the island.
Wayfarro's validity starts when the eSIM first connects on the island, not when you install it, so buying before the ferry costs you nothing.
Bottom line
The best eSIM for Isle of Man trips is Wayfarro's if you want an unlimited week, a 1-day plan or anything above 10GB; for 1GB, 5GB and 10GB it's a tie with Nomad, and Nomad edges it at 3GB. Airalo is the cheaper unlimited option at 10 and 15 days. See Wayfarro's Isle of Man eSIM plans, or if the island is one stop on a bigger trip, start with the Global plan.
FAQ
Does my UK SIM work on the Isle of Man?
Not always at home rates. The Isle of Man is a Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom, and it has its own mobile networks, Manx Telecom and Sure. Some UK plans include it and some treat it as roaming, so check your plan's terms before you sail. A travel eSIM removes the guesswork.
Which network does an Isle of Man eSIM use?
Nomad's and Airalo's Isle of Man plans both run on Manx Telecom, the island's incumbent operator. Wayfarro's plan page doesn't name its partner, so the network shows on your phone once you connect. The island's other operator is Sure, which built its own network in 2007.
How much data do I need for the TT?
More than you'd think. Race-week schedules change with the weather, you'll be refreshing timings and sharing video from the hedges, and campsite Wi-Fi is thin. Wayfarro's 7-day unlimited at $27 is the cheapest unlimited week in this comparison, and the 15-day plan at $55 covers practice week too.
Is the Isle of Man in Wayfarro's Europe plan?
No. The Europe bundle covers the UK but not the Isle of Man or the other Crown Dependencies. The Global plan does cover it, which is the one to pick if the island is a stop on a longer trip. For a trip that is only the island, the Isle of Man plan is cheaper.
Is there mobile coverage on Snaefell and the coast paths?
The towns and the main roads are well served, and the Mountain Road over Snaefell is a busy route with signal most of the way. Expect gaps in the glens and on the cliff paths around the Calf of Man in the far south. Download the bus and railway timetables before you head out.
