Best eSIM for Lithuania (2026): Prices, Networks and Which Plan to Buy

Updated · Wayfarro team

best esim for lithuania

The best eSIM for Lithuania is Wayfarro if you're buying for Lithuania alone: $4.50 for 1GB, level with Nomad's $4.50, $15 for 10GB against $16 at Nomad, and $21 for 7 days of unlimited data against $25 at Nomad and $27 at Airalo. On every plan we compared, Wayfarro was the cheapest or tied, and it's the only one of the three with a 1-day plan. Nomad names its networks (Tele2 and Bitė) and Airalo runs on Tele2. Wayfarro's prices come straight from its store; Nomad's and Airalo's were checked in October 2026.

Lithuania is the biggest of the three Baltic states and the one with the most to see outside the capital: Kaunas, the Curonian Spit, Trakai, the Hill of Crosses. That means more driving than an Estonia or Latvia trip, and two borders, with Poland and with Russia's Kaliningrad region, that an eSIM has to handle.

How to read this table: Wayfarro ties Nomad at 1GB, 20GB, 50GB and 3-day unlimited and is under it on the rest. Airalo's unlimited plans cost a little more than Nomad's at each length. A dash means the provider doesn't sell that exact plan, or we couldn't confirm its US-dollar price. Airalo also sells fixed-data Lithuania plans; check its site for current prices.

Wayfarro's unlimited rows are its Unlimited Lite plans: 1GB a day at full speed, then 512 kbps until the next day. It also sells Unlimited Essential (1GB a day, then 1.25 Mbps) and Unlimited Plus (2GB a day, then 2 Mbps); seven days costs $22 on Essential and $25 on Plus. Nomad's page states its own rule, 2GB a day at 4G/5G and 1 Mbps after that. Airalo's states full speed for the first 3GB each day, up to 20 Mbps, then 1 Mbps.

Which is the best eSIM for Lithuania for your trip?

Match the plan to the route:

  • A city break in Vilnius with a day at Trakai: 1GB at $4.50 covers maps, Bolt rides and the castle's audio guide. 3-day unlimited is $11 if you'll stream and post.
  • A single day through Vilnius or Kaunas airport: Wayfarro's 1-day unlimited plan at $4.50 is the only 1-day option in this comparison.
  • A week's loop, Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda–Nida: 5GB at $9.50 for most people. If you navigate all day and post video from the dunes, the 7-day unlimited plan at $21.
  • A month in Vilnius working remotely: 20GB at $20 and 50GB at $45 cost the same at Wayfarro and Nomad. Wayfarro also sells 100GB at $99, which neither competitor lists.
  • Lithuania as part of a Baltic or Warsaw trip: the Europe regional plan covers Lithuania with Latvia, Estonia, Poland and more than 30 other countries, and its 1GB, 3GB, 5GB and 7-day unlimited prices cost no more than the Lithuania plan when we checked.

Networks and coverage in Lithuania

Lithuania has three networks: Tele2, Telia Lietuva and Bitė. Tele2 is the largest, Telia (the old Omnitel) second and Bitė third, and all three run 4G across the country with 5G on the 700 and 3500 MHz bands in the cities. Nomad uses Tele2 and Bitė, Airalo uses Tele2, and Wayfarro's plan page doesn't name its partner, so the network shows on your phone when you land.

  • Vilnius: 5G on every network. The Old Town, one of the largest medieval old towns in Northern Europe, has solid 4G in its courtyards and lanes, and Vilnius Airport is 6 km south of the centre with coverage all the way in.
  • Kaunas: the second city is fully covered, including Kaunas Airport, 14 km north-east of town and 100 km west of Vilnius.
  • The A1 motorway, Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda: continuous 4G the whole way.
  • Klaipėda and the coast: the port city, the ferry quay for the spit and Palanga's beach are all covered.
  • Inland and the lakes: Aukštaitija National Park, 100 km north of Vilnius, and the forests around Druskininkai have gaps between villages. Download maps first.

Two borders where your eSIM can stop

Lithuania's edges need more care than most of the EU.

The first is the Curonian Spit. The 98 km sandbar is a UNESCO site shared between Lithuania and Russia's Kaliningrad region, and Nida, the resort at the Lithuanian end, is only a few kilometres from the line. A phone on automatic network selection can latch onto a Russian tower, and no travel eSIM covers it, so your data stops dead. Set the network manually to Tele2, Telia or Bitė before you board the ferry from Klaipėda, and set it back to automatic when you return. The same applies in Druskininkai, the spa town near the Belarus and Poland borders.

The second is Poland. The coach and the train from Vilnius to Warsaw cross into Poland within a few hours, and a Lithuania-only eSIM has nothing on the other side. If Warsaw or Kraków is on the plan, the Europe plan keeps one eSIM through both countries; the Poland eSIM guide covers the Polish end. Rail Baltica, the new line from Tallinn through Riga and Kaunas to Warsaw, is under construction and will make that crossing routine.

Heading north instead? Riga is a few hours by coach, and the Latvia eSIM guide picks up there.

How to set up an eSIM for Lithuania

Install at home on Wi-Fi, then switch it on when you land.

  1. Check your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. iPhone XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and most recent Samsung Galaxy phones do.
  2. Install before you travel. Scan the QR code or tap the install link; the step-by-step install guide covers iPhone and Android.
  3. Label it "Lithuania" so you can find it in settings.
  4. On arrival, set the Lithuania eSIM as your mobile-data line and turn on Data Roaming for it. Travel eSIMs technically roam, so data won't connect without this.
  5. Keep your home SIM on for calls and texts with its data roaming off, so bank codes still arrive.

Wayfarro's validity starts on first connection in Lithuania, not at install, so installing a week early costs nothing. Top-ups go onto the same eSIM without reinstalling.

Bottom line

For Lithuania alone, the best eSIM for Lithuania in this comparison is Wayfarro: cheapest or level on every plan, with the only 1-day plan and the only 100GB plan. Nomad ties it at 1GB, 20GB, 50GB and 3-day unlimited and names its networks, Tele2 and Bitė. Airalo runs on Tele2 and costs a little more at every unlimited length. Whichever you pick, switch to manual network selection on the Curonian Spit. If Riga, Tallinn or Warsaw is on the same trip, buy the Europe plan instead. See Wayfarro's Lithuania eSIM plans.

FAQ

Which network does a Lithuania eSIM use?

Nomad's Lithuania plans use Tele2 and Bitė, Airalo's use Tele2, and Wayfarro's plan page doesn't name its partner, so you'll see the network when you land. Tele2 is the largest of Lithuania's three networks, Telia second and Bitė third, and all three run 4G nationwide and 5G in the cities.

Will my eSIM work on the Curonian Spit?

In Nida, Juodkrantė and on the ferry from Klaipėda, yes. The spit is a 98 km sandbar shared with Russia's Kaliningrad region, and Nida is only a few kilometres from the line, so set your phone's network selection to manual there. On automatic it can latch onto a Russian tower, which no travel eSIM covers, and your data will simply stop.

How much data do I need for a week in Lithuania?

Maps, messaging, Bolt rides and photos use about 0.5–1GB a day, so 5GB at $9.50 covers a week for most people. If you post video daily or work from a Vilnius café, the 7-day unlimited plan at $21 is the simpler buy.

Should I buy a Lithuania eSIM or a Europe eSIM if I'm coming from Poland or Latvia?

The Europe plan. Vilnius is a few hours by coach or train from Warsaw and Riga, and a Lithuania-only eSIM stops at the border. Wayfarro's Europe plan covers Lithuania with Poland, Latvia, Estonia and more than 30 other countries, and its 1GB, 3GB, 5GB and 7-day unlimited prices cost no more than the Lithuania plan when we checked.

Does Lithuania use the euro?

Yes. Lithuania adopted the euro on 1 January 2015, the last of the three Baltic states to do so, and it's in the EU and Schengen, so EU and EEA SIMs roam here at home rates. Visitors from the UK, North America, Asia or Australia pay their carrier's roaming rate, which is why a Lithuania or Europe eSIM saves money from the first day.
