Best eSIM for Latvia (2026): Prices, Networks and Which Plan to Buy
Updated · Wayfarro team

The best eSIM for Latvia is Wayfarro if you're buying for Latvia alone: $4.50 for 1GB, level with Nomad's $4.50, $10 for 5GB against $12.50 at Nomad, and $21 for 7 days of unlimited data against $25 at Nomad and $27 at Airalo. Wayfarro was the cheapest or tied on every plan we compared, and it's the only one of the three with a 1-day plan. Nomad names its networks (Bite and Tele2) and Airalo runs on Tele2. Wayfarro's prices come straight from its store; Nomad's and Airalo's were checked in October 2026.
Most Latvia trips are Riga trips, with a day at Jūrmala's beach or in the Gauja valley, and any of these eSIMs handles that. The decision gets harder if Riga is the middle stop on a Tallinn–Riga–Vilnius run, which is where the Europe plan comes in.

How to read this table: Wayfarro ties Nomad at 1GB, 20GB, 50GB and 3-day unlimited and is under it on the rest. Airalo's unlimited plans cost a little more than Nomad's at each length. A dash means the provider doesn't sell that exact plan, or we couldn't confirm its US-dollar price. Airalo also sells fixed-data Latvia plans; check its site for current prices.
Wayfarro's unlimited rows are its Unlimited Lite plans: 1GB a day at full speed, then 512 kbps until the next day. It also sells Unlimited Essential (1GB a day, then 1.25 Mbps) and Unlimited Plus (2GB a day, then 2 Mbps); seven days costs $22 on Essential and $25 on Plus. Nomad's page states its own rule, 2GB a day at 4G/5G and 1 Mbps after that. Airalo's states full speed for the first 3GB each day, up to 20 Mbps, then 1 Mbps.
Which is the best eSIM for Latvia for your trip?
Match the plan to the itinerary:
- A long weekend in Riga: 1GB at $4.50 covers maps, Bolt rides and a few photos a day. If you'll stream and post all weekend, 3-day unlimited is $11.
- A single day in port or a stopover at RIX: Wayfarro's 1-day unlimited plan at $4.50 is the only 1-day option here.
- A week of Riga, Jūrmala and Sigulda: 5GB at $10, or the 7-day unlimited plan at $21 if you work from cafés or post video daily.
- A month of remote work: 20GB at $20 and 50GB at $45 are the same price at Wayfarro and Nomad. Wayfarro also lists 100GB at $102, which neither competitor sells.
- All three Baltic states, or Riga plus Helsinki or Warsaw: the Europe regional plan covers Latvia with Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland and more than 30 other countries, and its 1GB, 3GB, 5GB and 7-day unlimited prices cost no more than the Latvia plan when we checked.
Networks and coverage in Latvia
Latvia has three networks: LMT, Tele2 and Bite. LMT, part-owned by Telia, is the largest; Tele2 is second and Bite third. All three run 4G across the country and 5G on the 3500 MHz band in Riga and the bigger towns. Nomad uses Bite and Tele2, Airalo uses Tele2, and Wayfarro's plan page doesn't name its partner, so the network shows on your phone when you land.
- Riga: 5G on every network, and solid 4G in the Old Town, the Art Nouveau streets around Alberta iela and the Central Market's hangars.
- Jūrmala: the resort runs 32 km along the coast 25 km west of Riga, and the train from Riga Central keeps a signal the whole way. Coverage on the beach is good; the pine-forest paths behind it are fine too.
- Sigulda and Cēsis: the towns and castles on the rim of the Gauja valley are covered. Down in the valley and on the forest trails, expect gaps.
- Kurzeme (Courland): Liepāja, Ventspils and Kuldīga are covered, and the A9 and A10 roads west from Riga are continuous 4G. The coast road around Cape Kolka thins out.
- Latgale: Daugavpils, Latvia's second city, is covered. The lake country east of it toward the Russian and Belarusian borders is patchier.
Riga's airport, the coaches and the eastern border
Riga is the hub of the Baltics, which shapes how you'll use an eSIM here. RIX, 10 km west of the centre, is the largest airport in the Baltic states and the home of airBaltic, so a lot of people arrive in Latvia on their way somewhere else. The airport bus into town is the first place your eSIM will connect.
From Riga's coach station, Lux Express runs north to Tallinn and south to Vilnius several times a day, with the Estonian and Lithuanian borders a couple of hours out in each direction. A Latvia-only eSIM stops at the line. The Rail Baltica line through Riga to Tallinn and Kaunas is under construction, with a branch to the airport, and when it opens the same rule applies. For a Baltic loop, the Europe plan or the Trip Builder keeps one eSIM through all three countries.
In the east, Latvia borders Russia and Belarus, and near Daugavpils, Rēzekne or the Lake Lubāns wetlands a phone on automatic network selection can pick up a tower across the line, which no travel eSIM covers. Set the network manually to LMT, Tele2 or Bite if you go east, and set it back to automatic afterwards.
Riga pairs naturally with Vilnius, and the Lithuania eSIM guide covers the southern half of that trip.
How to set up an eSIM for Latvia
Install at home on Wi-Fi, then switch it on when you arrive.
- Check your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. iPhone XS and later, Google Pixel 3 and later, and most recent Samsung Galaxy phones do.
- Install before you travel. Scan the QR code or tap the install link; the step-by-step install guide covers iPhone and Android.
- Label it "Latvia" so you can find it in settings.
- On arrival at RIX, set the Latvia eSIM as your mobile-data line and turn on Data Roaming for it. Travel eSIMs technically roam, so data won't connect without this.
- Keep your home SIM on for calls and texts with its data roaming off, so bank codes still arrive.
Wayfarro's validity starts on first connection in Latvia, not at install, so installing a week early costs nothing. Top-ups go onto the same eSIM without reinstalling.
Bottom line
For Latvia alone, the best eSIM for Latvia in this comparison is Wayfarro: cheapest or level on every plan, with the only 1-day plan and the only 100GB plan. Nomad ties it at 1GB, 20GB, 50GB and 3-day unlimited and names its networks, Bite and Tele2. Airalo runs on Tele2 and costs a little more at every unlimited length. If Riga is one stop on a Baltic run, buy the Europe plan and let the coach cross the borders for you. See Wayfarro's Latvia eSIM plans.
FAQ
Which network does a Latvia eSIM use?
Nomad's Latvia plans use Bite and Tele2, Airalo's use Tele2, and Wayfarro's plan page doesn't name its partner, so you'll see the network when you land. LMT is the largest of Latvia's three networks, Tele2 is second and Bite third, and all three run 4G and 5G in Riga and along the main roads.
Should I buy a Latvia eSIM or a Europe eSIM for a Baltic road trip?
If you'll cross into Estonia or Lithuania, the Europe plan. Riga is a few hours by coach from both Tallinn and Vilnius and a Latvia-only eSIM stops at the border. Wayfarro's Europe plan covers all three Baltic states plus Finland and Poland on one eSIM, and its 1GB, 3GB, 5GB and 7-day unlimited prices cost no more than the Latvia plan when we checked.
How much data do I need for a week in Latvia?
Maps, messaging, Bolt rides and photos use about 0.5–1GB a day, so 5GB at $10 covers a week for most people. If you'll post video from Jūrmala's beach every day or work from a Riga café, the 7-day unlimited plan at $21 is the simpler buy.
Is there mobile coverage in Gauja National Park?
Yes in Sigulda, Cēsis and at the Turaida and Krimulda castles, which sit on the valley rim. Down on the river and on the forest trails between them the signal comes and goes, and the bobsleigh track and cable car at Sigulda are fine. Download the trail map before you drop into the valley.
Does Latvia use the euro?
Yes. Latvia replaced the lats with the euro on 1 January 2014 and is in the EU and Schengen, so EU and EEA SIMs roam here at home rates. Visitors from the UK, North America, Asia or Australia pay their carrier's roaming rate, which is why a Latvia or Europe eSIM saves money from the first day.
