Updated · Wayfarro team

best esim for cyprus

The best eSIM for Cyprus on price is Wayfarro, cheaper than or level with Nomad and Airalo on every plan we compared. 5GB for 30 days costs $8 against $12.50 at Nomad, and 7 days of unlimited data costs $21 against $25 at Nomad and $26.50 at Airalo. Nomad is level with Wayfarro at 20GB and 50GB. Wayfarro's prices come straight from its store; Nomad's and Airalo's were checked on their own sites in October 2026.

Cyprus is a small island with one big catch for travelers: it's divided. Everything in this guide applies to the Republic of Cyprus in the south, where Larnaca, Paphos, Limassol and Ayia Napa are. The north runs its own mobile networks, and that's covered further down.

How to read this table: Wayfarro is under Nomad on fixed data from 1GB to 10GB and level with it at 20GB and 50GB. On unlimited, the two are level at 3 days and Wayfarro is cheapest from 5 days up. Nomad's unlimited plans stop at 10 days, and Airalo's Cyprus page listed unlimited plans only. Only Wayfarro sells a 1-day unlimited, a 2GB plan and a 100GB plan ($72). A dash means the provider doesn't sell that exact plan, or we couldn't confirm its US-dollar price.

Wayfarro's unlimited rows are Unlimited Lite: 1GB a day at full speed, then 512 kbps until the next day. Unlimited Essential (1GB a day, then 1.25 Mbps) is $22 for a week and Unlimited Plus (2GB a day, then 2 Mbps) is $25. Nomad and Airalo don't state a daily high-speed allowance on their Cyprus pages.

Which is the best eSIM for Cyprus for your trip?

Most Cyprus trips are a week by the sea, so start there:

  • Long weekend in Limassol or Ayia Napa: 1GB at $4 covers maps, messaging and a taxi app. For a weekend of video, the 3-day unlimited at $11 is level with Nomad.
  • A beach week: 5GB at $8 is enough for most people, against $12.50 at Nomad. If you'll stream by the pool or post every day, the 7-day unlimited at $21 is the cheapest here.
  • Two weeks with a hire car: 10GB at $13, or the 15-day unlimited at $31, which Nomad doesn't sell and Airalo prices at $48.50.
  • Wintering or working from Cyprus: 20GB at $19 (level with Nomad) or 30 days unlimited at $49 against $68.50 at Airalo.
  • Cyprus plus Greece: Wayfarro's Europe regional plan covers both on one eSIM, from $9 for 5GB.

Networks in Cyprus, and the north

The Republic of Cyprus has four mobile operators: Cyta, Epic, PrimeTel and Cablenet. Cyta is the state-owned incumbent and by far the largest, and its mobile arm is a Vodafone partner network. Epic (formerly MTN) is second. PrimeTel launched its own network in 2015, shares radio equipment with Epic and roams on Epic or Cyta where it needs to. Cablenet, the newest, shares with Cyta in the same way and is majority-owned by GO, the Maltese operator. Cyta, Epic and Cablenet all list 5G.

Nomad's eSIM uses Epic and PrimeTel, Airalo's uses PrimeTel, and Wayfarro's plan page doesn't name its partner network. On an island this size, with the smaller networks borrowing from the bigger ones, network choice matters less than price. If you're driving up into the Troodos mountains, download the route first in case of weak spots.

Northern Cyprus is a separate case. The north is served by two operators that work only there, Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell and Telsim Vodafone, and we couldn't confirm that any Cyprus plan in this comparison connects to them. There are seven crossing points on the Green Line, and many visitors fly into the south and cross for a day in North Nicosia, Kyrenia or Famagusta. If that's your plan, download offline maps and anything you'll need before crossing, and treat the north as Wi-Fi only.

How to set up an eSIM for Cyprus

Install at home, connect when you land:

  1. Check your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. iPhone XS and later, Pixel 3 and later, and most recent Samsung Galaxy phones do.
  2. Install over Wi-Fi before the flight, by QR code or the one-tap link. Step-by-step install guide.
  3. Label it "Cyprus" so it's easy to choose.
  4. At Larnaca or Paphos, set the Cyprus eSIM as your data line and switch on Data Roaming for it. Travel eSIMs connect as roaming SIMs.
  5. Keep your home SIM on for calls and texts, with its data roaming off.

Wayfarro's validity starts with the first connection in Cyprus. Top-ups go onto the same eSIM, and hotspot is allowed, which is handy for a laptop by the pool.

Larnaca, Paphos and getting around

Cyprus has two commercial airports in the south. Larnaca International, 4 km from Larnaca, is the main one. Paphos International, on the southwest coast, is the one most holidaymakers use for Paphos, Coral Bay and Limassol, which is about 50 km away.

Cyprus has had no railway since the government line closed in 1951, so you'll be in a hire car, a taxi or an intercity bus between towns, and that's where data earns its keep: navigation for the coast road, bus times and the taxi app at the airport exit. None of it uses much. Photos and video from the beaches and the old towns are what push a week past 5GB.

Bottom line

Wayfarro is the best eSIM for Cyprus on price: under Nomad on fixed data up to 10GB, level at 20GB and 50GB, and the cheapest unlimited at every length from 5 to 30 days. The plans cover the Republic of Cyprus in the south; plan on Wi-Fi if you cross to the north. If the trip adds Athens or the islands, buy the Europe plan instead. FAQ

Which network is best for an eSIM in Cyprus?

The Republic of Cyprus has four mobile operators: Cyta (the largest, partnered with Vodafone), Epic, PrimeTel and Cablenet. PrimeTel shares radio equipment with Epic and roams on Epic or Cyta where it needs to. Nomad's Cyprus eSIM uses Epic and PrimeTel, Airalo's uses PrimeTel, and Wayfarro's plan page doesn't name its partner network.

Does a Cyprus eSIM work in Northern Cyprus?

Don't count on it. The north has its own operators, Kuzey Kıbrıs Turkcell and Telsim Vodafone, which work only there, and we couldn't confirm that any Cyprus plan compared here connects to them. If you cross the Green Line for a day in North Nicosia or Kyrenia, download offline maps first and expect to rely on Wi-Fi.

How much data do I need for a week in Cyprus?

A beach week with maps, messaging, ride apps and photos uses about 0.5–1GB a day, so 5GB at $8 is usually plenty. If you'll stream, video-call home or post reels every evening, the 7-day unlimited at $21 is under Nomad's $25 and Airalo's $26.50.

Can I use one eSIM for Cyprus and Greece?

Not with a Cyprus plan, which covers Cyprus only. Wayfarro's Europe regional plan covers Cyprus and Greece together with more than 30 other countries, from $9 for 5GB, so it's the one to buy for a trip that adds Athens or the Greek islands.
